Count Arthur Strong: Greatest Story Ever Told
Edinburgh Fringe 2003, UK Tour 2004
Count Arthur Strong’s The Greatest Story Ever Told is classic territory for a man whose thirst for knowledge knows no bounds. Who could forget his previous lecture, Forgotten Egypt, except him perhaps! This time, he delves into the biblical archives and unravels ancient myths and mysteries surrounding Noah’s Ark, The Ten Commandments, The Feeding of the Five Thousand and, naturally, Father Christmas! As ever, he will attempt to instruct and educate, and as ever, he will inevitably fail.
Count Arthur combines sardonic wit and old school sensibilities with a touch of Basil Fawlty. His forgetfulness and slight deafness result in sporadic and unnecessary shouting reminiscent of an elder relation, to whom everyone can relate.
