A Shut-Up Comedy From Japan

A Shut-Up Comedy From Japan

Gamarjobat-Fringe18_DLFlyer (2)-1Gamarjobat UK shows and Edinburgh Run 2018.

Since storming the Fringe in the noughties Gamarjobat (pronounced Ga-ma-jo-bat) have become one of the few acts that can truly claim to be a global sensation, having performed in 36 countries, from Broadway to China, and racked up over 50 million views on YouTube. This year Ketch! (red mohican) and HIRO-PON (yellow mohican) are BACK in Edinburgh and will be performing their West End Premier with a show packed full of their very best world-conquering fast-paced comedy. In the UK Gamarjobat have starred on ITV’s Tonight at the London Palladium, been twice winners of BBC’s BAFTA award-winning The Slammer and fronted Ketch! and HIRO-PON Get It On on BBC3.

“Cartoon characters come to life” New York Times
“Utterly mesmerising” Telegraph
“A physical comedy masterclass…This double act have made vaudevillian silent comedy their own” Guardian
“This Japanese physical comedy duo are a cross between Laurel and Hardy and Madness. Kids and adults will love their breathtakingly brilliant slapstick clowning. I can’t wait to take my children, who will talk about this for the rest of their lives” Stewart Lee, The Times
“I’ve tried, and I’m certain that there’s no real way to convey in words just how fantastic this show is” Three Weeks
“Hilarious physical comedy duo from Japan will transcend anything you think you know about clowning, magic and mime” Chortle
“I have never seen a show that I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone, regardless of age, sex, colour, or ideological leanings – until now” Scotsman

Gamarjobat, (which actually means ‘hello’ in Georgian), have delighted audiences selling out festivals around the world and starring in commercials and TV shorts in Japan. In under a decade, Ketch! (red mohican) and HIRO-PON (yellow mohican) have turned silent comedy into an art form that completely transcends all cultural and language boundaries. Their work is an ingeniously packaged mixture of clever, free-flowing mime and gentle acrobatics all wrapped up in a generous helping of wonderfully tongue in cheek humour.
