Komedia operates a management and production arm which represents emerging and established talent. Reflecting Komedia’s core values and areas of expertise, the company has worked with leading character, physical and musical sketch comedy acts together with distinctive music artistes.

Komedia Entertainment has produced numerous five star and award winning shows, radio series and TV projects. These included Japanese Comedy duo Gamarjobat’s sell out Edinburgh shows and their first run on Broadway, New York; the Fringe First winning Meeting Joe Strummer and the Sony Award Winning Count Arthur Strong’s Radio Show!, which has completed seven series. Together with national and international tours, the company also produces comedy and music CD & DVD releases and other broadcast projects for the BBC.

Richard Daws

Richard partnered with the Komedia arts and entertainment organisation in 2001 to form Komedia Entertainment.

His previous experience included co-founding Victoria Real, an innovative media outfit which subsequently became one of the UK’s fastest growing private companies (1st Dun & Bradstreet Hot 100 and 4th in the Sunday Times Fast Track 1997-2001). Victoria Real won a string of industry awards, including ones for ground breaking iTV and online projects which included Big Brother (C4). Daws personally picked up the Emmy Award for Outstanding Editing in LA in 1998 for his work on Stomp Out Loud (HBO) and edited a Classic Film Sequence for the 75th Oscars Ceremony. As Chairman he set-up Victoria Real’s award-winning Australian business, together with the UK’s first MSc in Digital TV with the University of Brighton. In 2000, the Victoria Real founders partnered the company with international production giant Endemol, leading to their sale of the company and in 2005 sold the Australian business to Deepend.

 

 Nikki Meadows

Nikki has 25 five plus years experience in theatre, comedy and music management, early career with Joy Jameson and Noel Gay Artists, representing actors and comedians and running the voice over agency before an 8 year stint with John Reid Enterprises working closely with artists as diverse as Elton John, Lloyd Cole, Billy Connolly, Barry Humphries, and multi-award winning Jazz saxophonist Courtney Pine.

In 2004 Nikki joined Komedia Entertainment as a freelance management consultant, working alongside director Richard Daws, responsible for all areas of artist development and for expanding the existing client base. During this period, the company enjoyed particular success, most notably the commissioning of Count Arthur Strong’s debut BBC Radio 4 show and a number of awards (Joanna Neary, Perrier nominated for Best newcomer in 2004 and Gamarjobat Best International Act Brighton Fringe 2006 & 2007).

 

Anna Walker

Anna is working in the Totnes office alongside her studies for a PHD from the Media Arts and Design Research department at the University of Plymouth. Anna has over 15 years experience in setting up and managing Arts Businesses around the world, including time as General Manager of WDPM, a performing Arts company and associate company with The Royal Opera House and time in the USA as Senior Art Producer at Ad Agency Publicis.

Komedia Brighton

Komedia Brighton has become one of the most vibrant venues in the UK. Rated by the Guardian as one of the top five comedy venues in the UK and winner of Best Comedy Venue in the South a record ten times, the venue also hosts a mix of music, cabaret, kids events and club nights. It has featured in the careers of almost every name in UK comedy, including Graham Norton, Catherine Tate and Harry Hill and is a stopping off point for all things musical with recent years seeing the likes of The XX, Duffy and Munford and Son’s perform.

Komedia Bath

Komedia Bath opened in 2008 in the grade one listed former Beau Nash Cinema. The venue quickly won the Chortle Award for Best Comedy Venue in the West of England and Wales whilst the renovation picked up the National Building Excellence Award for the Best Renovation of the Listed Building in the UK.
